Insurance Policy/FAQ

  • Inspired Light Counseling is a self-pay practice and does not submit claims directly to insurance companies.

  • This change allows me to provide more client-centered care without the limitations imposed by insurance companies — such as requiring a mental health diagnosis, restricting session types, or capping the number of sessions. It also protects your privacy, as your treatment details stay between us.

  • If you have out-of-network (OON) benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement. You would pay me directly for each session and then submit a claim to your insurance company on your own. I’m happy to provide a Superbill (a detailed receipt) to help with this process upon request.

  • To find out if you have OON benefits, contact your insurance company using the number listed on the back of your card and ask them the following questions:

    • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

    • Is pre-authorization required?

    • What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed?

    • Is there a deductible I need to meet first?

    • What is the process to submit my own claim?

    • Greater privacy, as no mental health diagnosis is required

    • Full control over your treatment plan without insurance limitations (or requests to review your medical record)

    • Flexibility in how we structure your care based on your unique needs

    And HANDS DOWN, the biggest benefit is:

    • When you make a greater financial investment into your mental health you’re more likely to also make a greater investment into the counseling process. Because you have chosen to make a bigger commitment towards your own transformation, you are significantly more likely to get the results you are looking for and create long lasting changes in your life.
